Name of the Gods
My name was
taken from the bible. I was named after the Saint Joshua, a beautiful name
from God. I think of my name as something important and unusual. It has its
own special ring to it, like a newborn baby. It’s happy and everyone is
emotionally overwhelmed. My Papa contributed to my name as a suggestion and
though a nice name, I don’t want to inherit being a religious man like him.
My name is navy
blue. It is dark, rich, and powerful and I like that! Blue matches with most
everything and is accepted by the world. Joshua is a name of freedom. He led
the Israelites to safety and was very important at the Battle of Jericho.
The name standing for freedom reminds me of the flag because it is put up
every morning as it waves for the rights of every American.
My name is the only one not
inherited from a family member, and it makes me feel a little confused. My
older and younger brothers are named after my grandfather and my uncle, but
my name is out of the bible. I was almost called Louis, but the sound of
Louis Joshua Walsh just didn’t fit so my parents switched them around. I
would not want my name to be anything else. I like how it sounds and what
it stands for because it makes me feel important, and that I am needed
whenever and wherever possible.
My parents gave me the name Joshua because no one else in my family had the
name. It was also a coincidence that my mom named me after one of her
favorite soap opera stars. My name is the first of its kind in my family,
and I am proud of it. I wouldn’t be me without the name because it gives me
personality and pride to be named Joshua.
