Lovely Amanda

Amanda is a short and simple name that is easy to say.  It fits my personality well.  It flows out of your mouth like a river.  My name means love. It is like eating fresh picked strawberries on a hot summer day.  It is the color of a clear blue sky.  It is flowers blooming on a spring day. Anna was my great, great grandmother’s name. This is who I was named after because both of our names start with the letter A.  I never got to meet her, but my mom tells me that she was beautiful like the colors of the leaves in the fall. My Mom says she was a nice lady that was exactly like my great grandma. She was friendly, always talking to people even if she did not know them.  We have many things in common, or so it seems it when my mom tells me about her.

When I was little my sister used to call me Addy.  That name sounds old-fashioned.  Addy is like the color of a muddy swamp.  Amanda exceeds Addy and the nicknames Mandy, or Mander because those names are like spending a hot summer day inside doing your homework.  I also like the names Ashley and Lindsey.  If I were to change my name it would be one of those.  Those light pink names are like sweet cotton candy melting on your tongue.

Before I was born my parents were going to name me Amber.  I don’t think I look like an Amber plus that name sounds like an old rusty tin can.  If I would have been named Amber I probably would have changed it to Amanda.
