Beautiful Day

I take a walk through the park
one perfect Sunday afternoon.

The sky is blue,
Practically covered with thick, white clouds.
The trees, towering above the park,
stand tall and strong.
The grass is greener than ever.

I pass by the pond.
I watch as the fish jump,
Creating ripples in the water.

It is a rather quiet day in the park.
No children, no dogs, no joggers are there;
Though this is quite unusual, I very much
Enjoy the peace and quiet.

The wind begins to blow, sending a
Cool, crisp, refreshing breeze.

I sit to take a rest.
I lift my chin
in order to feel the sun’s warmth on my face,
close my eyes, and
thank God for this beautiful day
which He has given us.

Open Me

I sit there
quietly watching and
wondering when you will
open me.

Your are young now and
always seeking pleasure;
actually, you’re only
seeking pleasure.

I patiently sit there
beside your bed and
watch you play your
video and computer games.

Once you grow tired of those,
you go to watch your television.
You lay on your bed
watching until you drift off to sleep.

I sit there
quietly watching and
wondering if you will
open me.

You are older, and you
should be mature by now,
but you are still playing your games,
and you are still watching your television.

I patiently sit there and
wonder if you notice me at all.
But how will I know if you’re ignoring me?
And how can I get your attention?

I’m dusty now.
Can’t you see me?
I have something to tell you.
I have many things to tell you.

I could teach you so may
things about life
if you would just
open me.

I could teach you all about
your Father,
the Father who you probably
know nothing about.

Your Father who is with
at this very moment, and
every moment;
He never leaves your side.

This is not you earthly father that I speak,
but you heavenly Father.
He wants you to
talk to Him sometime.

If you would just read me
a little each day,
I could change your life forever.
So open me please,

Open me.

Cheetah

I run.
My Speed increases.
3, 5, 10, 20, 40, 70 miles per hour.

I then notice the black spots that have appeared on my uniform,
which now seems to be a coat of fur.
The spots are beautiful and unique.
I no longer look like my competitors.

I sprint down the track,
not noticing the surprised an somewhat
scared look on the faces of the onlookers.

I run full speed.
The breeze is quite enjoyable.
It feels so refreshing on this hot day.

I run, wild and free,
paying no mind to the competition.
The competitors are terribly far behind, even
the lion, the gazelle, the elk, the hyena, and the zebra.

No one is greater than me,
for I am the fastest on earth, the speediest, the swiftest,
the hastiest, the quickest, the snappiest, the loveliest beast.

I have nothing to fear.
I am the best here.
I will not be defeated,

not today.
