Life Tank

By: Scott LaChapelle

Life Tank

As I swim I wonder why I’m here,

I try to escape but run into walls.

The walls are the boundaries of my life,

And I am a goldfish, without a care in the world.

Others control my life

They feed me, clean me, and take care of me

I cannot leave yet I do not often care.

Why leave, if I have everything I need?

Though I cannot help but wonder

What is beyond the walls that keep me here?

Possibly great riches and adventures,

Or places with infinite room to explore

But alas, I do not risk finding out,

For I am just a goldfish.
