The Naschmarkt!  Does it Bring Some Life to Vienna?
September 10, 1905

Today's Naschmarkt is a popular meeting place for all housewives.  After you have done the shopping for the family, you can meet with friends in a coffeehouse.  The Naschmarkt began as a small milk market.  At that time, a creative milkman had discovered a new financial resource, by opening a milk house.  As time went by, more and more people selling goods opened stands.  Ten years ago the name "Naschmarkt" already began to take hold.  The Naschmarkt is indeed a market where one can buy the most diverse treats:  exotic fruits, delicious spices, mysterious herb mixtures, coffee- and cocoa beans, as well as relaxing teas.  Critics fear that these exotic fruits can bring epidemics.

But it is all the same to the modern housewife, because the delicacies from  far away countries such as, oranges, dates, bananas, and mysterious spices, are very desired by the population.  Clearly, this market enlivens Vienna, that much is obvious.

Catastrophe-Many dead and injured
August 3, 1897

The catastrophic flood of the Vienna river has already demanded several victims. Four long days the Vienna river flowed with more rapid speed over its bank.  Innumerable people had to leave their houses and were placed in emergency accommodations.

The extent of the catastrophe can not be measured.  We ask the population to donate material and cash donations to the disaster victims.

100th Vienna School Opens!
October 16, 1908
Yesterday in the Viennese district of Favoriten, the 100th school of Vienna was opened.  Those just beginning school recited poems and presented the principal an enormous bouquet of flowers. At the conclusion of the celebration, students sang several songs.

Vienna has done a lot for education in recent years.

A particularly big event was also when the first girl’s academic high school (Gymnasium) opened in Vienna in 1892.

Porcelain- The Nobel Chinaware of the Viennese?
April 5, 1901
Vienna returns to the art of its own once again. The traditional Augarten porcelain is a must on every wealthy family's table. Not only are the plates and cups popular but porcelain figurines are in again. Even Maria Theresia was excited in her time about this porcelain. She also ate off of the beautiful plates. Whoever longs to be modern, they must go deep into their pocketbooks. The plates are worthwhile, but beauty has a price.

Vienna is enthusiastic: New Further Education Possibilities!
June 7, 1910
Yesterday on June 6, on the streets of the Ring and Kai, the “Palast der Volksbildung” meet, the Urania, opened. Max Fabiani, the architect, made a personal appearance. There was  a big concert in the auditorium where scientific lectures will take place. One can also marvel at the architecture of the building. The building is crowned on the top with a large observatory that  is equipped with a gigantic telescope. The population of Vienna now has new further education opportunities with the construction of the Urania. In addition is the Urania is one of the new “Wiener Tratschnester” (Viennese gossip nests). Here the Viennese exchange the latest gossip. A must for everyone!
