Dream
Wedding of Franz Ferdinand and Baronness Sophie Chotek
July 20, 1900
Yesterday, around 10:30
in the morning, Franz Ferdinand and Sophie Chotek
were married at the
empire city chapel. They only invited their closest relatives. It was a
small but beautiful dream wedding. Franz Ferdinand visited the
duke quite
often and everyone in the family thought he was in love with one of the duke's 8
daughters.
Many people were disappointed when they found out that Ferdinand
had decided to marry the lady-in-waiting Sophie Chotek. Supposedly empress Elisabeth knew
about this secret relationship. In June, Franz Ferdinand first received
permission from the emperor to marry the love of his life. Franz Ferdinand
had to give up the right of his children to take over the throne when he
dies. Now nothing can stand in the way of their happiness.
