Is it typical for a man or a woman to be a tailor or a seamstress? Is it the same as the art of cooking? A chef prepares the festival meal, but the everyday meal is made by a woman? There are male tailors and female seamstresses. It is not controversial on the other hand, for the law to forbid clothes from being made in the apartment of the lady customer. Therefore, small sewing businesses are springing up everywhere in which uneducated employees work in secret. When the head tailor or seamstress is caught, he or she must pay 3 Gulden. With this article we would like to call on all master tailors and seamstresses.

For men, black and white are popular. Men are wearing undershirts and buttons on the cuffs, which lend the appearance of expensive shirts. The tie is always getting smaller, until it is only a narrow band around the neck. Where should this lead to? Very modern is a gray or black suit, either as a jacket or a business suit, usually with a vest. For special occasions, a suit with tails longer than a normal suit is worn. The long tailed jacket is combined with striped pants. Gentlemen’s clothing is mainly being kept simple.

“Bubikopf”- The Hairstyle of the Year

 In November, the “Bubikopf” won the competition of the society of Austrian hairdressers for women as the modern style for theater.  As for jewelry, hairdressers recommend feathers, diamonds, ribbons and flowers.  Everything has to match hair color and accessory. A ball hairstyle with curls receives second place. 

Liberation of the Modern Women

 A new waist-fitting hanging dress is liberating women.  If a woman wants to look fashionable, she does not only have to look stunning, but also have on the right things. It is very up to date to wear is a lace neckline made of silk or satin.  A must for women is to be slim.  If a lady is not slim she is rarely noticed for her beauty.  If you have beauty and are slim there is a better chance men will look at you.  Corsets help us look slim.  Corsets strive to make the waist look as slim as possible. The belly is flattened with the corsets.  That is not healthy.  Also the popular hoop skirt is not practical.  You can barely walk or sit.  Therefore away with the corset and the hoop skirt.  Our fashion nevertheless remains the prettiest, and in which all women feel at home.
