The 3A English students
of the PMS Dominikanerinnen of Vienna, Austria and the
8th Grade German students of Cary Academy of Cary, North
Carolina have been exchanging pen-pal letters for
two years. This year we decided to do an international
project together. First, we researched our topics and wrote
several articles in our native languages about New York City and
Vienna from 1890 - 1910. We've written these articles
based on the information we found during our research on this time
period. Once they were written, we then exchanged them
via email within our international partner groups.
Each article was then translated by another student into
their native language so that every article was in English
and German. We then put together this web site to
show our work in the form of a bilingual edition of a
ficticious The
Times of New York and the Wiener Tagblatt. Lesson

Die
DeutschschülerInnen der 4. Klasse der Cary Academy, Cary,
North Carolina und die EnglischschülerInnen der 3A der PMS der
Dominikanerinnen, Wien sind seit zwei Jahren Brieffreunde.
Dieses Jahr haben wir ein internationales Projekt gestaltet.
Das Thema war Wien und New York zur Jahrhundertwende (1890 -
1910). Schülergruppen recherchierten
Themenbereiche und verfassten dazu Zeitungsartikel in der
Muttersprache. Diese wurden von den BrieffreundenInnen
übersetzt. Das Resultat ist eine zweisprachige, fiktive Ausgabe der
Times of New York und des Wiener Tagblatts.
