This vase made by Mr. W. Beattie illustrates how art and industry can mix.  It is four feet tall and has small carvings in it.  It has four people carved in it too, Newton for astronomy, Shakespeare for poetry, Watt for mechanics, and Bacon for philosophy.  This vase shows the celebration that the Great Exhibition had for science with Newton and Bacon and industry with Watt.  Most of the things on display there were mechanical or some type of machine for new industries.  There were also many exhibits for science such as chemistry and astronomy.  The vase has even more to do with the Industrial Revolution.  The trains and new types of transportations would not have been possible without Newton’s laws of motion.  It would have been even more impossible with out Watt and what he did with his innovations in mechanics and for mechanical industry.
